眼球愛地球!
你們好! 這個週末颱風快要到了! 我買了很多吃的東西﹐可是颱風還沒來了。為什
麼? 它不喜歡我媽? 我現在化妝著﹐ 穿著很漂亮的衣服! 我希望他鳥我!

兩個禮拜以後﹐我跟我朋友KEVINA一起到ESLITE 書店去看很有意思的節目﹔有三個
部份。

第一個部份有一個很奇怪的男生﹔他叫眼球先生。你不可以看他的臉﹐ 應為他戴
了一個面具﹐ 所以他的臉好像看起來一個眼球。他唱著歌跳舞﹐ 也說了很多話。
有的人跟他跳舞﹔一點是好像女生的男生﹐ 讓我想起來泰國﹐ LOL。他們的無都
跳得很好﹐很好看。如果你要看他們的照片﹐ 請把這裡打。

第二個部份有一點鼓手打鼓。。。他們的式從非洲來了。。。很吵﹐ 可是我覺得很
熱鬧。這是我最喜歡種的音樂﹐ 所以他們打鼓的時候﹐我只聽他們﹐ 沒說話。

第三個部份有很多奇怪的人。。。他們先把很多人放在網裡﹐ 再打爆竹。我很難
怕他們﹐ 他們好像看起來TELETUBBIES﹐ 還是POWER RANGERS。如果你要看﹐ 就去我的照片。

我這個週末打算去看李昆林 ﹐ 他是TAIWAN WOO 的總統。我上年跟他見面。真是很
好的人﹐再說很聰明。我覺得TAIWAN WOO 是特別聰明的想法。我希望他還沒忘記
我吧!

Mixin' it up in Taiwan

I have been thinking about something very interesting to me lately, namely, social integration in Taiwan. Take a look at this article : currently, 1/5, 20%, of Taiwanese marriages are to a foreigner, apparently because of the disparity between what Taiwanese men and Taiwanese women want. Men want someone to carry on male-based traditional society; modern women want a more exciting life or a more respectful marriage than they think "traditional" Taiwanese men can deliver. Many of my Taiwanese female friends have confirmed these same thoughts from the article, although they probably represent a skewed population. But regardless, Taiwanese men are increasingly marrying women from overseas, especially in SouthEast Asia.

Also now, Taiwan is promoting a influx of high-knowledge employees, indicating it needs to import about 100,000 high-tech foreign workers between now and 2009. That doesn't include the number of migrant laborers or other forms of residents, including students and other laborers. According to Taiwan's Ministry of the Interior statistics, currently only ~424,333 foreigners reside in Taiwan. Adding 100,000 high tech workers increases the number of foreigners greatly, but the percentage in the population is still only about 2.2% Still, that increases the number of foreigners available for dating/marriage to "modern" women, and those who are married and bring their families add to the foreigner population significantly. If they stay in Taiwan, that would lead to much more foreigner growth in future generations.

All this points to a significant change in Taiwan's population base: a large influx of hi-tech foreign, typically male workers and their families, combined with HUGE amounts of Taiwanese male marriages to SE Asian women, leads me to believe the current demographics here will soon shift significantly. I just wonder how the Han population will react.

What do you think? Will all this immigration result in massive Nationalism/foreigner-phobia/fear of lost jobs to "wai guo ren"? Religious problems like Thailand's Muslim insurgency? Or will it be nothing special? Love to hear the opinions of others, and I hope I haven't speculated too much.

為什麼? 也有一張圖畫的一個很奇怪的日本女生。我覺得如果他跟UNCLE MCDONALD 有孩子﹐ 我一定很怕他。

我在麥單勞坐著呢。我不愛麥單勞吃的東西﹐ 但是在這兒念書很方便。在我的桌子一個漢堡﹐一個盒子的薯條﹐一個肌肉漢堡﹐和一杯可樂放著呢。我在台灣特別餓。我吃飯的時候﹐ 吃著吃著﹐ 吃不完。我很怕我的腦壞了。我也在麥單勞上著網呢。在別的電腦上著網﹐ 看著色情。我昨天想出來新的電機﹐ 可是朋友告訴我沒有意思﹐ 也沒用了。我然後要哭﹐ 但是沒用﹐ 跟我電機一樣沒用﹐ 所以我只持很多。我這個學期一定胖了! 哎喲。。。這個週末應該出去玩排球。。。誰要跟我玩? 明天有晤面。。。然後可能有工作﹐ 也很富! 啊祥加油加油!好﹐ 現在得到床去睡覺。改天見!

我要給你介紹我的家! 我的家很小。我的家裡面有四間房間: 兩間臥房﹐一間洗手間﹐ 也有一間客廳。我的臥房很大﹐ 可是我沒有很多東西﹐ 只有一點衣服﹐ 一點書﹐也有一點兒點心。別的臥房是我朋友的﹐裡面只有貓﹐ 一點的電腦。客廳有很有用的臺燈﹐ 我們平常別把那個臺燈關上﹐因為我們是常常用的。我們的客廳也有一個小廚房。我們把晚飯準備在那兒。吃晚飯的時候 ﹐ 也看電視。我不要給你介紹我的洗手間。我覺得你還是不要的! 我們不常把洗手間洗洗﹐ 所以情不看見! 好﹐ 介紹完了。謝謝貫裡!

我跟亞洲人搬家﹐很麻煩

大家好! 我最近搬家了﹐所以我現在想起來我幫台灣朋友搬家的時候。很麻煩﹐因為亞洲人出去﹐ 進來房子的時候﹐他們總是把鞋子脫下來呢! 所以﹐我出去﹐ 進來房子﹐在把很重的東西搬﹐ 應該把鞋子脫下來! 噢! 很麻煩! 我喜歡西方法: 大家進來﹐ 出去房子的時候﹐ 總是把鞋子穿著﹐如果你的鞋子很髒﹐只把它們洗一洗﹐ 就好了。洗它們以後﹐ 可以在房子裡穿著呢。沒問題。噢﹐ 我想我很髒的白鬼方法!
我明天打算到NATIONAL IMMIGRATION AGENCY去RENEW我的VISA﹐ 因為我不期望得離開台灣! 但是我得離開﹐行把鞋子穿在家裡! 那麼﹐ 得離開﹐ 不必離開﹐都很好! 啊﹐ 生命很好! 改天再見!

Hey everyone, this isn't related to Chinese, so please feel free to skip it.

But its something I stumbled onto at 4 am when I should be asleep. I remembered playing this game, Deus Ex, and remembering how the user could engage in philosophical discussions and see and be involved in international politics, something that was so different than most other games I had played before.

Anyway the reason I made this post was because I was remembering this bit of discussion between the main character, a nearly God-like clone strengthened by nanotechnologies operating inside his body, and a prototype of a computer program(Morpheus) that spies on everyone who uses the Internet or telephones, like a completely automated version of the ECHELON program:

MORPHEUS: JC Denton. 23 years old. No residence. No ancestors. No employer. No --
JC DENTON: How do you know who I am?
MORPHEUS: I must greet each visitor with a complete summary of his file. I am a prototype for a much larger system.
JC DENTON: What else do you know about me?
MORPHEUS: Everything that can be known.
JC DENTON: Go on. Do you have proof about my ancestors?
MORPHEUS: You are a planned organism, the offspring of knowledge and imagination rather than of individuals.
JC DENTON: I'm engineered. So what? My brother and I suspected as much while we were growing up.
MORPHEUS: You are carefully watched by many people. The unplanned organism is a question asked by Nature and answered by death. You are another kind of question with another kind of answer.
JC DENTON: Are you programmed to invent riddles?
MORPHEUS: I am a prototype for a much larger system. The heuristics language developed by Dr. Everett allows me to convey the highest and most succinct tier of any pyramidal construct of knowledge.
JC DENTON: How about a report on yourself?
MORPHEUS: I was a prototype for Echelon IV. My instructions are to amuse visitors with information about themselves.
JC DENTON: I don't see anything amusing about spying on people.
MORPHEUS: Human beings feel pleasure when they are watched. I have recorded their smiles as I tell them who they are.
JC DENTON: Some people just don't understand the dangers of indiscriminate surveillance.
MORPHEUS: The need to be observed and understood was once satisfied by God. Now we can implement the same functionality with data-mining algorithms.
JC DENTON: Electronic surveillance hardly inspired reverence. Perhaps fear and obedience, but not reverence.
MORPHEUS: God and the gods were apparitions of observation, judgment, and punishment. Other sentiments toward them were secondary.
JC DENTON: No one will ever worship a software entity peering at them through a camera.
MORPHEUS: The human organism always worships. First it was the gods, then it was fame (the observation and judgment of others), next it will be the self-aware systems you have built to realize truly omnipresent observation and judgment.
JC DENTON: You underestimate humankind's love of freedom.
MORPHEUS: The individual desires judgment. Without that desire, the cohesion of groups is impossible, and so is civilization.
MORPHEUS: The human being created civilization not because of a willingness but because of a need to be assimilated into higher orders of structure and meaning. God was a dream of good government. You will soon have your God, and you will make it with your own hands.

The game just gives me shivers.

Why do we need the idea of God? When we die, why do we need to have the idea that something will take care of us if we have been good, and will punish if we've been bad? In order to keep people from hurting each other in this life; so they can be controlled.

As Voltaire wrote,
"If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.
Let the wise man announce him and kings fear him.
Kings, if you oppress me, if your eminencies disdain
The tears of the innocent that you cause to flow,
My avenger is in the heavens: learn to tremble.
Such, at least, is the fruit of a useful creed."
Read: God is useful to control even kings, because he will judge even them. So, if there is a God, and a king is a bad ruler, then he will go to Hell. Therefore, kings who believe in a God will try to behave properly, thus ensuring proper government.

Like the AI Morpheus said above, "God is [just the idea of, ] a dream of good government."

And where do current ideas about God and nature come from? About Jesus? Some very interesting research has been done into religions that very nearly resemble Christian beliefs, that had been around for a long time before Christianity had. It seems as if Jesus is just the "remake" of other religions, and Christian ideas(like natural law from Stoicism) have just been borrowed, copied and pasted from other philosophies and religions.

In the game I have been talking about, creatures that resemble aliens are everywhere, but in fact, they are not from another planet. They all turn out to be genetically engineered, dreamed of and manufactured by human minds. So too, it seems very likely to me, is the Christian God, or at least, Jesus.

As for me, I just can't wait until sentient programs rule over mankind as benevolent dictators, ensuring ethical treatment of everyone, as the AI has nothing to gain from hurting (or even helping) people, but merely does what it is programmed to do, and from what it has learned. I, for one, welcome our new software overlords.
